It was my first time staying at Lynwood House and I would definitely come back again. My check in time was outside normal times and this was no problem. The room was to a high standard, exceptionally clean and after such a long day the bed was welcoming and amazingly comfortable. After a restful night I had a delicious breakfast and was able to order something slightly off piste with the ingredients on the menu - delicious smoked salmon scrambled egg. I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone travelling alone or indeed my room could have fitted a family. Very lovely hosts who made me feel at home. Thank you again!

Despite Lynwood house being on a busy road, it is quiet and cosy inside. My room was lovely and had a period feel, yet all modern facilities, new bathroom and was extremely clean. I slept incredibly well, and had a great breakfast in the morning - there were a lot of breakfast options for such a small hotel. Would definitely recommend this for short stays in Cambridge :)

Lynwood House is within walking distance of central Cambridge. The guest house has been refurbished not long ago, and that really shows. Great attention to detail, very nice breakfast, chandelier in my room, good bathroom, Nespresso coffee machine in the room, comfortable and luxurious bed. It's not the cheapest guesthouse, but it is very good for it's price range.

We chose this as a place to stay to meet up with family, primarily because of its close proximity to the centre of Cambridge, and the free parking was an added benefit. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Our rooms were ready and offered to us earlier than we expected, and they were excellent. Everything we needed was provided, and more besides! We like to visit Cambridge as often as we can, and without doubt will choose to stay here again. Faultless.

For my annual business trip to Cambridge I wanted to try somewhere closer to town and not the usual chain hotel. Lynwood House was a great location:15 minutes walk to town, and only a 5-10 minute drive to the science park area (most traffic coming into town!).The room itself was clean, comfortable and well provisioned.Breakfast was good. My only disappointment was that I did not have time for a cooked breakfast every morning (served from 7:30 and I needed to be at the office by 8:30). Even so the toast and their own produced honey started the day well. The hosts were friendly. My one worry was about parking. The road directed to when the few space in front were full was also packed with cars, but both times I needed it I did find a space relatively easily and it really is only a short walk away.Happy to recommend.

Enjoyed my stay;liked that the B&B was in a quiet location. It is close to the park and punting area, but about a 20 min walk to the main part of town. The hosts are wonderful;the lady of the house made the most delicious breakfasts I had during my entire vacation. They recommended I check out Ely Cathedral if I felt adventurous, and that was an excellent recommendation. My room was an upper and small, neat and clean, w modern fixtures, efficient, somewhat stuffy however. However, given the price, location and service, and the incredible breakfasts, I was pleased w the stay.

The one night stay I had booked was just what I needed. Just a 10min walk from the centre, part way along the river. The room had everything I needed. Breakfast was great with plenty to choose from. You can help yourself to fruit, yogurts and cereals or pick something hot from the menu. The omelette went down very well. The only thing stopping this being a 5 star review was the shower that only seemed to have one temperature - very hot! I had forgot to mention this before leaving. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. I would stay again.

We was warmly welcomed at the door of Lynwood House. It is a Perfect location for the City, and River.A very traditional looking Victorian building from the outside. Inside this was obviously modernized without losing the original character. The fixtures and fittings are obviously of a high standard. The room we stayed in was ideal for us providing everything we wanted to make our stay comfortable. All the room facilities was of those provided in nice quality hotels, everything from the hot and cold drinks selections to the bathroom essentials.Nothing was a bother, asking for directions or when discussing my wife's dietary needs for Gluten Free food.I must add the cooked breakfasts here is absolutely excellent with a fantastic choice and service.I would recommend this Bed &Breakfast and its location as a place to stay.

Stayed for a weekend recently and we couldn't fault anything, it's like a mini 5 star hotel! We had the twin room on the first floor overlooking back garden and it was very quiet, and superbly decorated and furnished! The shower room was beautiful, the best we've ever seen in a B &B, although note that there are 3 or 4 steps down to it, which might not suit everyone. The rest of the house was equally beautiful, the welcome very friendly, and the full English breakfast was enormous!!!Also very happy with the position in Cambridge, just on the edge of the city, close enough to walk to across the river (10/15 minutes), and very convenient for Newmarket ( just under half an hours drive) if you are there for a race meeting like us!We had a fabulous weekend and would highly recommend Lynwood House!

Spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained.Decent if slightly compact shower. The bed was a little short for me (I'm 6ft 2in and my feet were laying on the wooden end board) and creaked and the duvet was heavy for such a warm house, but we had a good night's sleep. The breakfast was very well cooked and our hosts were very pleasant. The B&B is an easy walk into historic Cambridge.

I stayed there one night and found the owners extremely helpful. The room was immaculate with a very modern comfort. The bedding was great and the breakfast fantastic. The high band wifi worked perfectly. I highly recommend the place to business travellers as well as families. The walking distance to the city center is a plus, as well as proximity to a very old traditional pub.

One of the best Cambridge B&Bs I have stayed in. Comfortable room with modern en-suite. Breakfast choice really good with plenty of fresh berries and traditional hot food.

Spur of the moment decision for two day r&r in Cambridge happily led me to book at Lynwood House. A great place to stay! We were made very welcome, the room was comfortable with everything we could need and the breakfast was marvellous. Would definitely stay here again.

Everything was really great. The hosts were extremely kind and friendly, and the room was cute and comfortable (I was in room 2 - good size for a single traveler). The location was good as well if you don't mind a little walking - not too close to the city center to be noisy, but everything within reasonable walking distance. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Cambridge!

In my opinion this is an excellent B&B. We only stayed for one night but I would have been happy to stay longer. We were in the family room, although there were only two of us, which is a lovely spacious room and would suit a family with two children very well. Everything was spotlessly clean. The bedroom had a very good modern shower, a coffee machine, a kettle and tea pot, a range of tea and coffee including herb teas, good bed side lights and plenty of sockets. The breakfast was great, mind included a delicious homemade granola. Although it was quite expensive, I feel that the quality of the room and breakfast was equivalent to a hotel room at s similar price.

Our stay at Lynwood House was very pleasant. The accommodation was beautifully kept and well thought out.The room and ensuite were modern, clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was very tasty and we enjoyed the good quality cereal and yogurt selection followed by a cooked breakfast using organic eggs. The location of the property meant that we could walk into town (the tourist hop on Bus stop is close by also) and in the evening we ate out at the StJohn's Chop House, well worth the walk (20 mins). We would highly recommend Lynwood House, the owners seem very friendly and we hope to return and explore more of the lovely city that is Cambridge.

After reading the descriptions and the excellent reviews on the booking websites, I was really curious to come to Lynwood House and see the place for myself. Well, it even exceeded my expectations. My room, but also the rest of the house, immediately gave a very relaxing feeling after a hard day's work by the way everything has been furnished and decorated. Add to that the very dedicated and friendly hosts, Julie and Nick, and the choice and quality of the breakfast and you will understand that I will not hesitate to book here again (and was even tempted to keep this gem for myself). There are some good places to eat in the area, but it is also at walking distance from the city centre and bus stops are also nearby.

I was very much looking forward to taking my female friend to discover Cambridge and the winter gardens. We stayed here for 3 nights in early February and had the most amazing time. Nicke and Julie are very welcoming, warm and respectful of all guests, they provided us with a great breakfast, lots of tourist information, lent us their road Atlas and helped with paying for a paring ticket. The accommodation is spotless, totally new, very centrally located, a short walk away from the college buildings through a nice park. I will definitely go back again and again - the gardens were so amazing at Anglesey and the Botanical gardens that I want to see them through the seasons!

Don’t hesitate to stay at Lynwood House for your next stay in Cambridge. I’ve just come back and I must say that this Bed and Breakfast is the perfect place to come to after a long, exhausting but wonderful walk through the streets of Cambridge.Lynwood House is a Victorian house, which has recently been refurbished. It is better than most hotels I’ve been to. Our room was beautifully and tastefully decorated, and had good selection of coffees (a Nespresso machine included), teas, hot chocolate and biscuits and also had a flat screen TV.The bathroom was modern (the kind you can only find at a five star hotel) and very clean.Breakfast at Lynwood House is excellent, everything you can think of and more! with first -rate ingredients. The hosts Julie and Nick are very nice, they make you feel comfortable and help you with any enquiry you might have. The house is also well located;it is about a15 minute walk from the city centre.I will certainly stay at Lynwood House next time I go to Cambridge.

One of the best beds we found in England, in a refined, tastefully decorated inn that's walking distance to the Backs and downtown Cambridge and the university (which are virtually one and the same). Our first-floor front room was a bit cramped, and we were unable to open the windows (maybe for security reasons, the room being very close to the street), so it tended to get stuffy overnight. But the hosts were genial and "full English breakfast"was probably the best we were given among our four different accommodations.

The room was the best we stayed in over six weeks of travelling France an the UK. It was spacious for a B&B, even the bathroom. The room was beautifully appointed with tea and pod coffee maker, sweets and biscuits. The host were very welcoming, even though we arrived earlier than expected. We were lucky enough to snag a parking spot on site. The breakfat was delicious - hot and freshly cooked, lovely homemade granola and nice coffee. It was located only a short and picturesque walk along the river into town. Our hosts had plenty of suggestions for things to do. Thanks so much for the perfect way to end our holiday. Just left after a family trip to Cambridge and a two night stay in the lovely Lynwood House. My partner &I were in the beautifully decorated room 1 in the front of the house, and my parents behind us in room 2. The lovely owners, Nick &Julie really looked after us, not to mention cooked us delicious breafkast both mornings we were there. The property is really immaculate, absolutely spotless and the decor of the rooms and public areas fresh &modern and finished to a very high standard. I was impressed by the lovely, albeit small, bathrooms, tasteful decorative details and ornaments, nespresso machine in the room and great lighting. We would definitely stay here again when passing through Cambridge and for others considering where to stay in this beautiful city, look no further!

Lynwood House is an outstanding property.Well run and maintained. Our bedroom was roomy, furnished to the highest of standards and the marble bathroom with it's remote control shower would not be out of place in a 4/5 star hotel.Breakfast is freshly cooked as requested with a good choice of hot and cold food. There is nothing we could find fault with at the Lynwood.

We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at Lynwood House. The room was newly appointed, modern and comfortable. Julie's breakfasts were sumptuous and always delicious with everything imaginable on offer. Parking is limited and by arrangement but the heart of Cambridge is a pleasant stroll across the Cam. We were lucky to have fabulous weather (in March!) and thoroughly explored this fascinating and historic city. We recommend this B&B very highly.

Very nice B&B, about 15 minute walk to the centre of the city. Breakfast was fine, so is the bed. I had a very welcome feeling here, reviewing the day and discuss what would be nice things to visit. The only thing I would recommend, is a curtain and not only luxaflex before the window, but that 's a minor detail.

I've just spent a weekend with my son in Cambridge. For many years I've been aware of a lack of good quality B &Bs in the city, but am very pleased to have now discovered Lynwood House. Its external appearance on the Chesterton Road is unremarkable and quite ordinary, but our twin room and en-suite bathroom were very comfortable, very well appointed and immaculate. The same applies to the dining room downstairs where we had two really excellent cooked breakfasts. It's an easy and pleasant walk to the city centre. All in all - thoroughly recommended!

I recently stayed at Lynwood House with my mum. After staying at a few B&B this has to be the best one by far. A warm welcome to start, a comfortable room with a great size bathroom. The highlight must be the breakfast, great selection and high quality. If I had one negative I would say that the towels were a little hard and for the price of the room would expect them to be softer. Would recommend this B&B to anyone wanting to visit Cambridge.
Nick and I are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for taking the time to write a lovely review. Sorry you found the towels hard, we were looking to change them and have just received a delivery of new towels this week. Upgraded to the sumptuous soft range.

“What a great experience!”Reviewed August 7, 2013 NEW via mobileNothing but great things to say. Julie and Nick communicated promptly by email and were kind enough to allow me to cancel one night of my complicated reservations about 2 months before the planned visit. Nothing is easy in my family, so my husband went to Cambridge on July 31 to pick up our daughter from a University program, while my other daughter and I traveled 2 days later. Julie and Nick accommodated the first wave and then added another room for the second group. Breakfasts were superb... The organic eggs were delicious and the honey from the back yard sublime. Julie helped our odor by doing a load of laundry and Nick helped us by setting up a private transfer back to Heathrow Airport for the next leg of our journey. It was a 15 minute walk to the far part of the University(Peterhouse College), and nearby pubs and Indian restaurant (Deewat) were excellent. Lovely showers, great smelling bath products, and heavenly bedding made this a definite I'll-be-back experience

Lynwood House is a beautiful bed and breakfast in many respects.First, the rooms are well appointed and comfortable. We rarely heard anyone else in the B&B or on the street, which is important considering the B&B is on a busy street.Second, the breakfast is excellent with organic and local products. They were also accommodating to my gluten allergy. The breakfast room is cozy allowing you to either talk with other guests or eat on your own - whichever you prefer.Third, the owners are gracious hosts and it is apparent that they deeply care for the B&B as well as for the guests. Finally, the location is within a 20 -30 minute walk of pretty much everything in Cambridge!

We, that is my myself, my husband &son, recently stayed in the top floor, 3 person, room. It very tastefully decorated and there was a great, newly fitted, ensuite shower room. All fixtures and fittings were of the best quality, and there were plenty of special touches of decorative items in the room. The room was very spacious and light, with 3 windows around the room to let in plenty of light and fresh air. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choice. The location was good for Cambridge city centre, and we could walk via Midsummer Common. Our hosts were very gracious &helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. The only potential problem is parking, as there are only 3 spaces, and the surrounding roads were full of cars, with restricted parking. Saying that, we had a space for most of the time. We would definitely recommend Lynwood House.

I had the pleasure of staying at the LYNWOOD HOUSE while visiting my son, a student at Cambridge University.I spent five wonderfully restful nights in their single room accommodation;so very Zen-like was the experience! (Smile)I arrived at around midnight on my first night after a full day of travel from the US..I have no words for my joy when I unlocked the door and entered a pristine, cozy, well appointed room.I slept like a baby.Julie and Nick are such a delightfully pleasant couple and the dining room lovely and arranged such that one could eat quietly keeping to ones self, or engage in most interesting conversation with fellow guests. The breakfasts consisted of amazing(!) meals varied and loving prepared with attention to detail suitable for royalty, but ample enough to fuel lumberjacks for a days work. One needn't carry midmorning snacks after ameal at this B and B..I was genuinely sad to leave both the comfort of my accommodations at Lynwood and the company of Julie and Nick who now seemed like old friends.I would also like to point out that this location is stellar. It was difficult for me to determine from my armchair in Portsmouth, NH, it is quite close and easy access tothe Cambridge Center.Kitty corner across the street is a lovely lane that leads onto a bridge over the Cambs River and leads right into Jesus Green. From there one can enjoy a lovely walk along the river, or through the park and into the center of town.Thank you, Julie and Nick, for having me in your home. I hope our paths cross again.Sincerely,Nancy

A special treat was the huge choice for breakfast and having everything (including the coffee) freshly prepared for us every morning. I particularly enjoyed the fresh fruits in the mornings. Thank you, Nick and Julie, for a lovely stay!

I recently spent 2 nights at Lynwood House.I have no complaints. The room was quite large and very quiet. The breakfast was wonderful.I was arriving late and so arrangements were made for the key to be left in a lock box and I was given a password to get it.The owners were very accommodating. I hope to stay there on my next trip to Cambridge.

I stayed at Lynwood House for a whole week, as I had meetings at Cambridge University and I did sightseeing before and after these. The garden facing room I had was ideal, quiet, and very comfortable. Clearly a major renovation has taken place here as the room and bathroom appointments in particular are of a fine hotel grade. Morning breakfast was great from full English style to whatever cereal, or egg or smoked haddock combination one desired. The location of the Inn is a 10 -15 minute through a beautiful park walk to the center of Cambridge...and the entire stay was simply comfortable, and I look forward to staying there again on my next visit to Cambridge from my American home. Thank you Julie and Nick.

Lovely little B&B. Easy access from the motor way although maybe a little far for people wishing to be in the centre of the city.Very nice breakfast.
Reviewer:Ms. DanielWeegink | Wed 12th Sep 2012
Our hosts Julie and Nick were very nice. We had a nice, clean room and the B&B is only a 15 minutes walk from the center. Julie is a bee-keeper and we tasted her own honey. Julie cooked a great breakfast, eg her scrambled eggs with salmon were perfect. So was her haddock with poached eggs. And finely she asked her baker to bake me 12 scones, to take home. Thanks again, they were great.

On checking in, the first thing that struck me was how true to the website photos the rooms were. The whole property is beautifully and tastefully decorated and in wonderful condition. We had room 1 at the front of the property which could have suffered from traffic noise but didn't. The en-suite, although small, was perfectly formed with a superb shower. The hospitality try was well stocked and the bed extremely snug and comfy. Breakfast on the weekend is only from 8-9 which is more regimented than perhaps some other B&Bs but certainly didn't cause us a problem. The cooked breakfasts were very tasty as was the B&B's own honey and bread. Again the breakfast bar was exactly as pictured on the website with a lovely selection of yogurt, fruit, juice and cereal with pastries on the Sunday. The emphasis is on quality and it pays off.We were appreciative of the recommendations given for local pubs and eateries and with the B&B just a ten mintue walk from the very centre of town it's a great location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would recommend to anyone visiting Cambridge and would love to return one day.

I stayed in room 4 which has twin beds and is easily large enough for two people, with chairs to sit in and a desk as well, though just wall pegs for hanging clothes and no dresser. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom first rate. There was some noise from street traffic (Chesterton is a fairly busy street), but at least in this room, which faces the rear yard, it was unobtrusive.Breakfasts were excellent, with the best omelets I've had in years, plus fruit, cereals etc.The hosts had good suggestions for local restaurants.Major drawback for some:it is a 15 minute walk to the center of town, albeit a pleasant one, and a 30 minute walk to the train station.Bus service is available nearby, but they run infrequently during the day.

As a frequent traveller I warmly recommend Lynwood House after a 4-night-stay. I've had the single room on the 2nd floor which is quiet and good for one person. The bathroom is rather spacious and has a good shower. The room has a good bed and a richly loaded tea-and-coffee-tray.The room and the whole house is very clean and tidy. The highlight is undoubtly the breakfast cooked with very good ingredients and accompanied with toast of a high quality, not those tasteless leafs from supermarket. There is a rich choice of fresh fruit, cereals, juice, jams, marmelade etc.. The owners are kind and helpful and to be applauded for this small but stylish house.
Many thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Nick and I hope you are able to return to Cambridge and Lynwood house in the future.Kind regardsJulie

The room in which I stayed No.6 was on the top floor like in a attic, but really cozy, comforable and had a lovely atmosphere. Always neat and tidy. Breakfast was wonderful, all ingredients were carefully selected from local farms and shops. There were several good pubs and restaurants near by as well. If you travelling alone, it would be one of the nicest place to sleep. I miss Lynwood a lot, after coming back to my hometown.

I was in Cambridge for business and stayed in Lynwood House from 12 to 17 December 2011. Every day I spend in this B&B was full of positive emotions about the hospitality of the hosts, Nick and Julie, the room, the breakfast, the location, etc.Speaking about the hospitality, Nick was always there to provide me any required assistance, just charting with him was very interesting as he possess deep knowledge and experience in different fields. Julia was so good in preparing the full English breakfast! She was very attentive to all my needs. I was also very touched when, in spite of ordinary times for the breakfast on Saturday being 8:00 a.m., both hosts waked up very much earlier to prepare me the breakfast and organize a taxi. The breakfast was excellent made out of only natural products provided by the farmers around Cam-bridge. It was really an irresistible option to have the full English breakfast at Lynwood House!Regarding the location of the house, it was indeed perfect, just 15 walking minutes across the river and a green field to the centre of Cambridge. There were some very good restaurants very close to the house, including “The Old Spring” serving traditional English pub meal, and the Polish Club preparing excellent homemade Polish kitchen. All the rooms are entirely renovated and equipped with the most recent facilities. It seems that the hosts have thought about an every single detail to make the stay of their gusts the mostly comfortable and enjoyable. What I can also add, the photos on the web site of the house correspond entirely to what one finds in the rooms. I was in Room R4 and my colleague was in Room R2 – exactly what we saw on the web.I am a regular traveller, spending and can say without any reservations that this was one my best stays. Next time I am in Cambridge, Lynwood House will be the first place I will try to find an accom-modation at.Thank you Nick and Julie!

Helpful tea-making set in the room with assortment of teas/coffees as well as cookies for good-night tea. Fabulous full English breakfast served by a friendly couple of proprietors. Position in town not very central, but easy to reach center on foot, takes some 20 min across the river and greens.

This is a wonderful discovery. The entire B&B was completely renovated in the spring of 2011, and practically everything is new.The house is tastefully decorated and has the best of plumbing and lighting fixtures, flat-screen televisions, and carpeting. The rooms are provided with bottled water, tea and coffee, and snacks, refreshed every day.We picked Lynwood House because of its convenient location, just a short walk across the Cam and Jesus Green from Central Cambridge and the colleges, and were not disappointed. However, the best thing about our stay was the breakfast.Well above the average, and perhaps the best we’ve had at a B&B.The owners served us personally and were as helpful and friendly as you will ever find.We will return again, hopefully soon.
